Win Yard of the Month!

Our Yard of the Month program, led by the Health, Safety, and Beautification Committee, celebrates the pride and creativity of our neighbors. Each year, seven homes are recognized with a $50 gift certificate for their outstanding yards. Awards include Best Landscape (April–June) and Best Decoration (July 4th, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas), honoring the seasonal themes that bring our district to life.

No application is required! Winners are selected by the Health, Safety, and Beautification (HSB) Committee based on the guidelines below.

Eligibility Requirements
  • You must be a current HPLT member.
  • HSB judging team members are not eligible to win.
  • Homes with a “For Sale” sign are not eligible.
  • A yard may only win once per calendar year.
  • December/Christmas décor winners are eligible only once every five years.
  • Winners must agree to display the Yard of the Month sign until the next award is announced.
  • Decoration winners are asked to keep themed décor displayed through the end of the month.

Award Categories

Seven homes are selected each year to receive Yard of the Month recognition and a $50 local nursery or home improvement gift certificate.

Awards include:

1. Best Landscape
Awarded in April, May, and June.

2. Best Decoration
Awarded in July (Patriotic/July 4th), October (Halloween), November (Thanksgiving/Harvest), December (Christmas)

Winners are announced mid-month during each award period.

How Winners Are Chosen

For Landscape Awards, the HSB Committee uses a scoring rubric that evaluates:

  • General lawn appearance (mowed, edged, weed-free)
  • Clean and edged garden beds
  • Neatly maintained walks, driveways, and curbs
  • Trimmed shrubs
  • Color contrast and plant variety
  • Overall neatness (no visible garbage cans, toys, hoses, etc.)
  • Landscape design that complements the home’s architecture

For Decoration Awards, winners are selected based on creativity, overall visual impact, and how well the décor reflects the monthly theme.
